How Do Your Genes Fit?

There is no bigger struggle than finding the perfect jeans! As much as I love wearing jeans, shopping for a new pair is something that I absolutely dread. Finding for the perfect shade of denim, perfect cut and perfect deal can be easily to accomplished when the jeans are still on the rack; trying them on and them fitting perfectly is nearly impossible. Due to my curves, I  will find most times the fit will be great, but the waist will be too big or my butt will look awesome but the length will be too short.

I find that I am not the only one with this problem. Many other women I know have this same denim struggle, yet rather than blaming it on the jean makers, we tend to put our bodies at fault. Regardless of shape and size, from thin to full-figured, we all fall into this trap. "If only my thighs weren't so big...", "If my butt were smaller..", "If only my legs were not so skinny...", these are among the many things we say after failing at finding the right pair.

Searching for jeans can put a damper on our self-esteem and cause us to feel less confident about the way we feel and look, but it does not have to. Here are some tips I use when going on a denim hunt:

1) Try places who have a variety of fits for different contours. This will allow you to find what cut works for your body type. Also, do not only stick with the type that describes your body shape because it may not work for you. Be open to trying others and you may be suprised at which ones fit you best!
*Joe's, Express and Old Navy are among the stores you can find with these options.

2) Be prepared for a long day. It's not always an easy task finding the jeans, so it may turn into a whole day adventure, but keep that in mind and go forward with a positive attitude. Take a break to grab a bite and get back to it.

3) Don't give up!! It may seem like you're having more losses than victories, but recognize that your body was created perfectly the way it is, so it's not you that needs to change. Change your mindset around it, confess it verbally and you are bound to feel much better about yourself and the experience. Happy shopping!
