I have never been a big fan of lipstick. The women who I saw wear it didn't seem to make it appealing. Either they had more on their teeth than their lips, or they had not quite learned how to stay within the lines. Not to mention the fact that the first was created from the crushing of insects. Yes that's right, women like Cleopatra would smash beetles to extract carmine, a bright red pigment, and use it on their lips. Gross right? From this experience I've usually been opposed, but I am so happy that I have found an alternative! I was going to be attending a black and white soiree and wanted to add a pop of color to my ensemble. So I went to the MAC counter to begin my endeavor of getting red hot lips, without a lipstick. To my surprise, there are several different lip glosses that can give you the same boldness of color as you would get with a lipstick!
As some of you may know, looking for the perfect red can be difficult but, I found one I love; "Russian Red" by MAC! It works on several complexions and goes on seamlessly. With one coat you'll be set for a night out! For something a little more fun, try a fuchsia like "Giggle" lip enamel by Stila. Applying lip gloss is a quick and easy way to look and feel good about yourself, so go out and find one that works for you!
i dont know about you...but when i don't have time to put a "face" on, some mascara, a little blush, and a red lipstick totally refreshes your face and gives you an instant finished look, even if you barely have any other makeup on. and on that note, i say if you're gonna do a bright lipstick, keep it natural on the face and vice versa. there's nothing more tacky and overdone when a woman has dark eye makeup, too much blush, and a bright lipstick.
ReplyDeleteI used to never wear lipstick! Just recently I got introduced to this beautiful taupe/ beige color! I think that red is not "everyday wear" but a nice light beige is something that is light and that you can wear everyday! You should try it out!
ReplyDeleteLipstick is definitely one of those things that can change your whole look! That is what I love about it! Some lipsticks can even show your mood and how you feel for the day.
I wear red when I'm feeling sexy! I think that is exactly how red lip stick is suppose to make you feel! :)
